Alexandra Simmons was born in Caracas, Venezuela, where she started to
dance flamenco at the age of 15 under Tatiana Reyna's instruction. From
2000-2006 she trained and performed as part of the "Compañía Profesional de
Baile Tatiana Reyna", and had the opportunity to receive clases from many
dancers, like Helena Pachon (Spain), Belén Maya (Spain), Sergio "El Javi"
(Argentina), Antonio Vargas (Spain), Daniela Tugues (Venezuela) and Anita
Loynaz (Venezuela). Today this passionate dancer lives in the city of Houston,
and is part of "Soniquete" Flamenco Dance Company.
Ana de la Peza. Originally from Mexico City, Ana started her flamenco training
under the instruction of Rosa María Navarrete. She had the privilege of
performing with her throughout Mexico. In 2003, she participated with the
flamenco company “Caña y Candela” at El Teatro de la Danza. For the past 5
years, she has taught children classes as well as adult classes at both private
studios and Universities. In 2004 she moved to Albuquerque, NM to get
flamenco instruction under the Encinias family (Eva, Joaquín and Marisol).
During 2 years she was part of Alma Flamenca, directed by Marisol Encinias. In
Albuquerque she had the opportunity to take workshops with some of the most
renowned flamenco artists.
In 2006, Ana moved to Houston, TX where she currently teaches and performs
in public and private events. Her passion for flamenco is what encourages Ana
to keep studying and sharing with other people what flamenco has meant in her
life.
Sandra Muñoz was born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1977 and moved to
Albuquerque, NM in 1998 where she became involved with flamenco under the
instruction of Eva Encinias Sandoval and soon joined Alma Flamenca under
the direction of Marisol Encinias. Sandra started attending Festival Flamenco
workshops in 2000 and was tremendously inspired by the effort of the Encinias
dedication to the art form. Currently Sandra lives in Houston, TX and performs
with Soniquete Flamenco Dance Company.
